Nicholas Van Lott

was light blue like
the sky

in daytime
but changed at
night

to

dark

hue
befitting its
writing of

western thought
philosophy:

S
E
E

and then blank space
as
if
to say

“See nothing”

or

“It’s easier to ignore
than to
learn.”

Nicholas Van Lott is a poet with only a couple years of writing under his belt. He is currently working on a manuscript, maybe even two. He’s not sure yet. He likes e e cummings, lives for the Beats, and can’t go through a day without either listening to “Caring is Creepy” by The Shins or “Surfin’ Dead” by The Cramps. He has been published in the online literary magazine Fauna Quarterly. He can be reached at www.the-archduke.tumblr.com
